Our Office & Staff
Northwoods Family Dental has an experienced, caring and professional staff. Sue, our office manager, has been in the dental field 20 years and capably helps our patients with insurance, scheduling, and payment options. Barb and Jenny, our hygienists, are knowledgeable, gentle, and thorough. Mary and Terri, my assistants, have the wonderful ability to put nervous patients at ease. We all want our patients to receive the best care possible and have a positive dental experience.
Mary Padgett D.D.S.
My interest in dentistry started in high school when I worked after school as a dental assistant. I thought it looked like a great career—it combined my interests of science, helping people, and working with my hands. I then graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Biology and The Ohio State University with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. After dental school I completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency which focused on treating children, special needs patients and those with complex medical and dental issues. I am currently a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Wisconsin Dental Association, and the National Dental Practice Based Research Network. I enjoy participating in dental volunteer work including the Donated Dental Services, Global Dental Relief, and the Mission of Mercy. I also proudly serve as a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard.
I believe in lifelong learning and continuing dental education has been an important part of keeping me up to date and enthusiastic about dentistry. Recently I have particularly enjoyed comprehensive classes in nutrition and periodontal surgery.
My husband Bill, our kids Andy and Ellen, and I have been happy to call Rhinelander home for the past 18 years. Our family enjoys the outdoors, especially, skiing, hiking and making maple syrup together. I am also an avid runner, reader, and animal lover.

If you have dental insurance, a claim will be filed for you at no charge. If you have a deductible , or your insurance pays only a portion, we will request you pay your share on the day services are rendered. If the patient’s portion of the bill is not paid in full, no new appointments will be scheduled, and any appointments already scheduled will be cancelled until payment is complete, unless other arrangements have been made. We do accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover and Care Credit. Our system does not allow the use of debit cards (unless it is also a credit card).
For our patients with no insurance, we do require payment in full on the day services are rendered, unless other arrangements have been made with us in advance. A 5% discount will be given when you pay your bill with a check or cash on the day you are seen.
Payment for services provided by Northwoods Family Dental is the sole responsibility of the patient, or the patient’s parent or guardian. Dental insurance does not relieve the patient of financial responsibility for services rendered.
If there are circumstances which do not allow for complying with our regular payment policy, a sincere effort will be made to seek an equitable payment plan. We encourage you to discuss fees and payment with the dental services staff before treatment begins. Please inform our staff if you would like a pre-treatment estimate from your insurance company.
